You should get a RX Vega that launches end of July at SIGGRAPH. Its only going to be the 8GB version about an equal of 1080 for around $500. It should be a bit faster than 2 X r9 280x.
Running 2 video cards i'm guessing. In a few games you should get the speed of 1 being the lowest while others may get as high as 95% boost to FPS. I've never seen 100% boost from adding a second card.
Running Two-Way SLI will give you a boost, but not a boost worthy enough of a second graphics card in my opinion. You are betting off just upgrading a single graphics card than running two mediocre ones SLI.

I'm running two HIS Radeon R9 280x iP IceQ X 3GB no Freesync .Picked up a monitor with Freesync. If I upgrade I will go with one higher end card. Thanks for the info.
