DC Adapter for Television

I have a television which I believe has had the power cord ripped clean out of it. I did a little research and found out that it might be possible to use a DC adapter to power it. Issue is I tried a couple DC adapters and the result seems only half-done. The TV LED light turns red to indicate that it's currently offline and it turns blue when I hit the power button however, the screen is black. Anyone know if there's something simple I'm overlooking?

PS: The adapter I used says AC adapter; my mistake but a quick google search seems to indicate they are the same but I don't have any clue.

Solution
Somewhere on your TV, there should be a label saying what voltage, and what amperage, it needs in order to operate. It could be around power connector.

Two thinks might happened: You are trying with wrong voltage, or not powerful enough adapter. It might also happen that polarity is reversed, but usually this would lead either to catastrophic results (smoke), or no action at all, so I suppose you got this right.

Thanks dude I figured it was because my adapter was perhaps too weak and just wanted more info/confirmation. I'll try and find a stronger one if the TV doesn't have the info on it (haven't check yet.)
