Whats the difference, and which wifi adapter i need?

So i was thinking about replacing my ISP device for a stronger one, and one who would send 5Ghz signal too, but i struggling to know which one i need, since there is modem and router. which one would replace my ISP default device?

is your ISP cable or is it DSL technology ? even if it 's dsl you might run into trouble changing the device you gotta phone them first , but if you only want to give your home wifi coverage , you don't need to change that thing

i dont think so, what i want is to upgrade what the ISP gave to me, the little piece of hardware that has no antennas. i would assume that what it does is decodify the information that is given trough the cable in the wall.

thats what i'm trying to identify, if it is a modem or router... i'll try to identify what model it is to make it easier for y'all

it say's that this is a residential gateway, so i'm guessing no matter what, i cant replace this right?

oh ok, i thought that it would be a bottleneck for my wifi network and my internet speed.

no it wouldn't be . there would be only a wired connection from your modem to the wifi access point you buy and a DHCP software thing , no delays or bottlenecks indeed
