MSI Gaming Z97 3: USB Ports and LAN Port not working

On Saturday I've returned from a holiday, during which my PC has been without power. On Saturday and Sunday morning it just worked fine, though I've noticed that on Sunday it grew unusually hot during gaming (Witcher 3) - I felt a constant stream of hot air around my legs, which never happened before.

Then my PC just froze and when I restarted, all of my USB ports stopped working. I tried switching the devices (Mouse, Keyboard, Gamepad) around, but it was no good, though all of them worked on the laptop. I looked around the forum and finally the solution was simple: I cut the power for a couple of minutes and afterworks the USB ports worked again just fine.
Though now my LAN port wasn't working: I had no connection to my network, in fact there aren't any network adapters to be found in the Device Manager anymore. They are just gone. I tried to reinstall LAN Drivers, but the MSI website has no .exe, just an .inf file that I cannot install and installing the whole Killer Network stuff won't work either, I just get an error message when I try to do so.

Now I tried to reset the CMOS, but now I've got the same problem as yesterday - no working USB-ports. The simple solution from yesterday (power off, power on) doesn't work anymore. Funny thing though, during booting Mouse and Keyboard have power (LEDs are on) and in Safe Mode I can use them aswell, only when I boot Windows normally they get no power.

I'm rather an amateur when it comes to PC hardware, though it looks like I have a problem with the power. Is there an easy way to verify that or whatever is going on?
Oh, one more thing, though I don't know if it's important: Before the PC got hot I charged some Powerbanks via the USB ports.

My PC-Setup:
MSI Z97 Gaming 3 (one year old, had to replace it last year, the other one got defect after a year)
Intel i5 4690K
MSI Geforce 970 GTX
EKL Alpenföhn Brocken ECO Tower
250 GB Crucial SSD
1000GB Seagate HDD
16 GB Kingston HyperX-DRR3 1600 RAM
Sharkoon T28 Midi Tower
be quiet Straight Power E9 500W
OS: Windows 7 64bit

Edit: I've reinstalled Windows 7 two times now. During reinstalling - as in Safe Mode - I can access mouse and keyboard and they work after the installation is complete. LAN is still not working though and when I install all the necessary drivers from the Support CD that came with the motherboard, USB again stops working.

I got no idea if this is rather a software/driver problem or if the motherboard is at fault. I lean towards the latter, as the whole system suddenly died on me and installing those drivers worked before like a charm and I never had any software problems. Before reinstalling Windows 7 I did a System restoration to check for any updates that might be at fault, but there weren't any for a couple of days. I did the System restoration anyway, didn't work though.

Thanks for your reply. I've ordered a new board now and hopefully it will solve the problem. I'll report if the USB- or LAN-ports still won't work then.

Edit: I got the ASRock Z87 Extreme4 now and LAN and USB Ports are working just fine. Changing the motherboard was the key then. Doesn't recognize one HDD for now, but I think I've found a solution to that aswell somewhere here on the forum.
