My laptop's bottom is hot even though the temps are normal. It even has the smell of heat.

I recently cleaned the dust off my laptop's fan and applied new thermal paste for the CPU. I even bought a cheap Chinese cooling pad for it even though i just did all of the above. While using, i noticed the smell of heat, the kind of smell that boiling tea pot have when you are boiling them, it's not "in your face" kind of smell but when i get my face near the mousepad area which is close to the CPU and the fan, i can smell it. I turned off the laptop and touched the bottom and it was hot which was unusual because the temp was normal less than 48 degrees Celsius for CPU (both cores) and my motherboard temp at the moment is 46 degrees Celsius. I got those temps using Speccy and Core Temp. I even ran Dell diagnostic tool via BIOS and everything seems fine. I am worried, is there something wrong with my laptop?

to be clear, you changed the cooler? And the one you got was some cheap one from china? It could just be the age, or maybe not enough thermal paste, but its probably the new cooler (if that is what you said cause im not 100% clear)

Yes, it probably because of the cooler. I just applied a new thermal paste for my laptop (the gold-ish paste not the silver one) and it works fine now.
