Computer worked fine one day, the next day I turned it on and have the yellow triangle and error message saying "Ethernet has an invalid IP configuration."

I had made no changes, security scans or malware removal or deleted anything else.

It's just this one Windows 10 machine with the problem. Wireless devices work and another computer hardwired to an access point works fine.

Here's what I've tried so far;

  • ■ On phone with cable company first tried IP configuration release/renew
    ■Cable company replaced modem
    ■New ethernet cable
    ■Other ports on modem
    ■Cable tech's laptop worked fine using same modem
    ■Multiple user accounts to see if it was isolated to one
    ■Reset network
    ■Bought a wireless adapter to see if it would work or the NIC was bad
    ■Tried unchecked IPV6 both before and after wireless adapter, made no difference

The wireless adapter has the same error message- "Wi-Fi has invalid IP configuration."

I have noticed a few issues with Windows 10, which I upgraded(or in my opinion downgraded) from 7;

    ■Sound icon is system tray disappeared for a while and nothing I did would show it, then it randomly showed up again...maybe an update?
    ■No option to add user account- Settings->Accounts->Family & Other is not there.
    ■Wi-Fi settings doesn't show until I installed wireless adapter but I clearly remember using wireless before moving modem...wireless is standard on this computer (HP Pavillion Elite HPE-500E)

Another computer and 2-in-1 run factory installed Windows 10 and have these, so not sure why the upgraded version is different.

I mention these just because I find it interesting and in case someone is familiar with why, but the NIC is the priority.

I tried inserting diagnostic images but they aren't showing up. I'm trying to get it fixed but here are the links.

Just NIC Installed

This is very frustrating. Any help would be much appreciated!
