I have a H170a gaming pro motherboard, Z170 chipset, with a i3-6100, and I was wondering compatibility with 7th gen kaby lake processors? I read somewhere that I'd have to update the BIOS to correctly use a Kaby Lake processors. Also that kaby lake works better with Z270 mobos? Basically what I'm asking is should I upgrade to a kaby lake i5, and if I do, what hoops will I have to jump through to get it working, or will it work better if i just get a 6th gen cpu, because those are what the Z170 chipset is made for? I'm asking because there are 7th gens at better prices but I don't know how to update a bios and I read that it won't work as well as a 6th gen would with my mobo chipset. answers?
