I just bought and installed a dell xps 435t/9000 socket 1366 motherboard. I got it to work with my dual core xeon. However if I try to put my e5645 hexacore it will power on but not do anything else. The fans and lights work and the hdds will spin though. I am wondering is a solution to this issue updating the bios? if not can someone shoot me a list for compatible hexacores (or quads if hexacores are a no-go) if anybody knows of any. Preferablly 2ghz or better. 1.6ghz is he lowest speed i'll touch.

This is my board...

So it doesnt look like it likes to run xeon CPU's most people are running i7 9xx cpus. Found a few post where they were running i7 980's NOT the 980x, with most staying with 920, 930, 950, 950, 970, 975.

I have a Asus r3e x58 board that refuses to run xeon cpus but was able to upgrade the 950 to a 980x 6c/12t @3.33Ghz, if your looking to upgrade i would go that way. Run about $140 on ebay, i paid $180 for my 980x.
