Upgrading i5 cpu to i7

I have a Lenovo yoga 3 14 laptop with an i7 processor. sadly the motherboard died, I have bought same laptop with i5 processor with LCD broken. My plan is the swap the motherboard. Just wondering if I can change the i5 processor with the i7 on the motherboard?

Most motherboards on laptops are designed with certain power/thermal envelopes in mind...

However, most manufacturers also have an official 'supported processors' list on their websites; that would be your safest bet...

(Certain laptops may be equipped with different power delivery and thermal cooling solutions...; if the mainboards are for sure identical, then. nothing to lose...as long as the CPUs are not spot soldered in...)

it comes with Windows 8.1 the i7 laptop has a win10. I don't mind 8.1 I can always buy a 10 license anyway.
