Use an old router with usb port as a NAS

I have recently upgraded my home Wi-Fi with a new router and access points. I am really happy with the final results, but there is one thing I miss on my old router I could plug an USB into the back of my router and use it as a NAS. My new router doesn't have that feature. Now I am asking you guys if there is any way to connect my old router to the system with its only purpose of being a NAS.

You DO need to turn it into an access point. The article talks about disabling DHCP, which is a required step to using this router as something OTHER THAN your primary router. You also would connect this "NAS" just like you would if it were an access point -- LAN to LAN. I did say you would want to disable the wireless when using it as a NAS. Otherwise the configuration changes and the connectivity are THE SAME as if it were an access point.

You can do that, but the performance is usually poor. A router (especially an old router) doesn't have enough CPU to be a good NAS.

To test for yourself, turn your router into an access point -- http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/36406-43-convert-wireless-router-wireless-access-point and test it. Most people are disappointed with the performance. You may want to disable (turn off) the WIFI radio in your second router to minimize interference with your primary.

I don't need to turn my old router into an access point i want to turn it into a nas. but thanks for your reply ;)
