Hello i have a laptop that i added to it external gpu using adapter and a Seasonic 430W S12 Bronze.. right now im using 960 gtx and the performance are great.. but i want more.. if i get an 970 or 1070 will the psu be enough? Guys im saying again just to make sure, the 430w psu is powering the video card only, not a full machine.. the laptop running on it own power.. the psu is only for the gpu.. so how about 970, 1060, 1070..?

Solution
Remember that you get reduced performance no matter what gpu you use since the thunderbolt cable bandwidth is around x4 PCie lanes. If you want better performance I suggest a gtx 1070 minimum (in that case the performance would be around the level of a gtx 1060).

how about R9 290? i found one in a very good price, i think i can change it with no wasting money, like head to head..
i see in benchmark its a lot better.. what do u say?

An R9 290 (I have an R9 390 myself ) is around gtx 970 level of performance but you are also getting a performance loss due to the bandwidth limitation. Considering the performance loss, It would be around a dekstop gtx 960 in performance. That is why I recommend a gtx 1070 minimum (when the prices stabilise after the mining craze) or an upcoming AMD Vega GPU.

sorry i mistake!! i meant 980gtx..
my psu will handle 980gtx?

Since the PSU in the gpu adapter is only meant to power the gpu (and some additional circuitry), that PSU can power almost any single gpu on the market (including gtx 1080 ti).
