Hello i am looking for a new gpu but would like some ideas as of what would be best for my setup.
I play a lot of games like h1z1 and will be looking into playing more games in HD with decent fps if possible.
My setup:
CPU: FX-8350 OC'D TO 4.4GHZ
CPU COOLER: AIO NZXT X52 240MM
GPU'S: 2X R9 270X SLI
PSU: CORSAIR 800W
2X 500GB HD'S
MBO: MSI 970A GAMING
RAM: HYPERX 2X 8GB

Solution
R9 270x in Crossfire is roughly equal to an R9 290x, or a current RX 470. Its still a very capable GPU setup at 1080p *if* games that have poor multi-GPU scaling aren't played. I would first see what games I am playing and want to play in the future upcoming releases. Then I'd research their multi-GPU history.

For new games coming out, I'd research the developer's past games and multi-GPU support. If it looks like that may be an issue, I'd upgrade the GPU first. If not, then I'd definitely upgrade to a current generation AMD or Intel platforum (Intel preferred over Ryzen if you game at 1080p).

If you're looking for a GPU upgrade only, a 1070 would be a pretty big upgrade from what you have. However I should also say that your CPU is getting rather aged, and FX CPUs are now just about bare minimum for gaming, and I doubt you'd get decent FPS on medium-high settings, maybe if you had the 1070.

If you can afford it, bump up all of your components. Otherwise a 1060 6gb or a 1070 will do just fine. Your CPU will bottleneck a 1070, but it does leave headway for further upgrades in the future.

Brilliant thanks for the reply. In regards to the cpu at the moment i will keep it a while due to only recently getting it same with the mbo, If not could you recommend any other am3+ cpu's that would work quite well with a 1060/1070 or an am3+ and a gpu that would work fine? Im mainly an fps player as i like games to feel smooth so i am not overly fussed about ultra or high settings. low/medium is fine. Thanks

There are no significant upgrades for your socket, however it should run a majority of games just fine at low/medium settings. If you can find a 1060 6GB for a decent price I think that would work best with your CPU.

No I'd say, especially with a nice stable 24/7 OC, and the current idiotic video card prices, patience is best here.
I recently went from a FX8350 @ 4.4 to a R1600x @ 4.0, keeping the same video card while waiting on some Vega action.

My Firestrike score is about 25% higher, due pretty much entirely to the big jump in cpu score.
My gaming is faster and smoother, but I certainly wasn't being held back hugely by the 8350.

You would see a much bigger bump with a video card upgrade than anything else, especially if you play a lot of different games. Crossfire/SLI doesnt scale well in some titles.
Giving card prices a couple months to stabilize, then looking at that first would be my advice.
Core system upgrade, a R1600 or R1700 ( 6 core for gaming/light multi tasking, 1700 if you stream/ do video production etc) is reasonably cost effective right now, barring ram prices, although they aren't nearly as crazy as video cards. But you would need mobo, cpu, ram, and maybe a new Windows license.
So it is kind of up to you as to whether you want to do some of an upgrade now, or all at once later.
Don't forget to get a AM4 socket kit for your AIO if you do this.

Can't Crossfire in a B350 mobo, so keep that in mind if you explore this option.

TL:DR. Video card upgrade, but not right now.

Cool thanks for everyone's input ill keep searching and do some more research. Fps isn't bad in most games for instance h1z1 kotk im getting around 90+fps in the city. Can easily play the witcher and other games on medium/high decent fps again.
