Why does my PC lag even if it's never lagged before?

So, recently my PC has started lagging on the game Geometry Dash and I have no idea why.
The lags I experience are rather short and usually not that problematic, but over time it gets annoying.
I have an intel core i7 processor, 8 gb of RAM and a geforce gtx (850m).
Also I can see microlags in levels that shouldn't even be lagging.
Please Help ;-;

Keep an eye on temps like Jwpanz said, also look and see if there are background tasks hogging system resources and disable them. Another issue could be Windows updates. I actually had a game recently tank in performance by about 5fps after an update

I've already checked the background tasks, now I'm gonna check the temperature. Thanks! :)
EDIT: I checked the temperature and I think they're pretty high: The CPU and the Motherboard are at about 67/66 °C, while the graphics are at about 57 °C. What should I do now?

These temps should not be problematic... over 20 °C more should start giving you trouble.

I will doublecheck the background activites because I'm sure I can hold a steady FPS. Two weeks ago I could do basically everything without any problem.
EDIT: uhmmm, I found out that my CPU says "max speed: 2,60 GHz" and when I'm doing absolutely nothing it says that it's going at 1,22 GHz with more than 100 processes... is that a bad thing?
