Hey,

How do i determine if my ethernet port is broken?

I cant connect to my router through ethernet cable on my PC.

The router works
Cable works (tested on diff computer)

When i connect the cable to my PC it keeps saying that i have to connect a cable even if its connected. I also cannot seem to find my ethernet network, all i see is a TAP- Windows Adapter v9

Solution
Another thing that can be checked is if the cable itself is fine. Do you have another cable to test with; or another set of hardware to test the cable? I know it can be rare, but it is possible if the RJ45 connector separated from the wire at all.

When i try to install the Killer Network Driver, it says

"You need to have the right Killer Hardware to install Killer Performance Suite"

Yes, worked earlier today, had an accident with the router as it just stopped working, got a brand new one now of the exact same type. So before i aquired a new router i tried to uninstall the Killer Network, but now i cannot install it again

Uninstalled it due it messing up before.
Did not disable it in device manager
Yes, tried to install the newest one, but then i get the message that i need the appropriate Killer Network hardware if i want to install it, even tho i do have that.

No lights whatsoever when i plug it in, also no lights around the slot on my router where it is connected (as it should be)

I guess it might have something to do with my router dying at the same time as i mentioned?

Oh well, thanks anyways

go to device manager and click on your Ethernet port driver file, disable it then re enable it. also update driver through the device manager. if this still does not work then most likely you have burnt out your Ethernet card.
