Is an External Hard Drive or Internal 3.5" Hard drive better?

So I want to pick up a 1 TB hard drive for my steam games, but I want to be able to transfer them easily to another PC. I know how to do this with a 3.5" drive, but I would prefer something easier to use, which leaves me with an external drive. I just want to know if they are the same speeds, or if one is faster than the other. If there is any significant difference, I would get the faster one, but if it is minuscule or no difference at all, I will get an external HDD.

There are LOTS of threads on this board of people who knocked over their external disk. Internal, if you have room and connectivity is a little more secure. If you create a volume and put "portable" files (documents, stream games, etc) you should be able to move to a new system reasonably easily.

I do see what your saying, and that is something to think about. Thanks for the input, although do you know if there is any noticeable speed difference with the two different types of drives?
