Is my gpu defective or just a driver issue?

So I recently built a new PC and the GPU I bought is MSI GTX 780 3GB lightning, for some reason, display shows me black screen. I changed to R7 gpu and it worked fine, any ideas?

My specs:
Gpu: GTX 780 lightning
Cpu: ryzen 7 1700x
Mobo: ax-370 gaming k5
Ram: corsair vengaence 8gb DDR4 3000mhz
Psu: corsair vs series 650

If you're running windows 10 it will automatically go and find the driver. If it's just a totally black screen and nothing is happening I'd contact the company you bought it from and send it back to them for testing in the event it's a faulty unit.
