.exe files won't run and no error message to be displayed

Dear Reviewers,

Hi there, I am running an old PC with Windows XP SP2, I know it is an outdated version of windows, but I have to stick to it for our old PC, now I downloaded some free programs (.exe setup files), and after finishing the downloads, I couldn't open/run any of these .exe files, the strange part is that when I double click nothing happens at all, I mean no messages are displayed and no programs seem to appear in the task manager, Please help me, I don't know what to do.

NB: Some other .exe files open well !

I am sorry, I am new here my XP sp2 has the same problemI have an older HP Xp computer, never had a problem until now unable to load software on my computer, error messages, or no action,
I have tried deleting programs to make room and tried extending to Radom Ram but still does not work? Run feature puts extra charater before and after the exe. file? " exe" Going to the control panel and using the ad program feature use to work but now just says need to delete more programs? It has room but the codes, drivers, computer language is messed up, no virus, Malwares cleared it?
