Ryzen 5 1600/Memory Speed

Hey everyone, I'm new to PC Gaming so please bare with me... My problem is this, I have pretty much purchased all my parts now, I have gone for a Ryzen 1600 and MSI RX 580 X, Im yet to purchase my ram which I had my eyes set on Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 MHz as I know my motherboard supports it, I have heard that the 1600 can (depending on the individual cpu) overclock to around 3.8 GHz using the stock wraith spire cooler, so would I do this after the initial setup of my pc and installing windows, then once that is stable set my ram to xmp profile 3200mhz, I understand that it's not guaranteed to run at that speed and sometimes more likely to run at something slower due to the cpu already being overclocked, would I be better saving money and buying 2666 MHz ram? Maybe if I got an aio liquid cooler I would have more chance of hitting a decent cpu over clock and reaching 3200mhz on the ram, but I have saved about £100 not getting the 1600x and an aio liquid cooler. All Ryzen memory controllers only guarantee 2400mhz with all 4 slots filled and...

Nice build to be honest, just 1 thing I would change is the nvme drive for the Samsung Evo 960 256gb instead, its the fastest consumer nvme on the market at the moment, its only about £8 more than the one you've selected, read is 3200 and write is 1500, you current selection is 2050 / 700

Ram speeds depends on quite a lot of factors, if the memory controller in the CPU can handle the speeds, and if the bios can hit the speeds, thats the main issues with ram speeds on RyZen at the moment is the bioses, I would still go for the 3200mhz though regardless, 2666mhz wont do 3200mhz, whereas 3200mhz will eventually hit its top speeds in the near future but for now should at least do 2933mhz.

I have the same mobo paired with a 1700 and 16 gigs of corsair vengeance led 3200MHz. I haven't been able to get my ram to 3200mhz even with lower timings than advertised, Currently running at 3066MHz with the latest bios. I would recommend you get the 2666MHz ram since i think anything faster will be bit of a gamble.

Thanks guys, so if I overclock my cpu to whatever it will be stable at (using the wraith spire I'm not going over 1.35 v) then see what my motherboard can set my 3200 MHz ram at? I'm pretty sure Ryzen 1600 CPU Memory Controller is 2667 MHz, so if my motherboard tries to set my ram at 3200 xmp it's technically overclocking the cpu memory controller, would that further increase cpu temps? Thanks again for all the help, really looking forward to August 12th when I have the ram, that's literally all I need now to finish the build, ps I already got the WD Black Nvme but wish I new about the evo before hand, never mind, it will still be faster than a HDD :D

All Ryzen memory controllers only guarantee 2400mhz with all 4 slots filled and 2666mhz with 2 slots filled, even mine, but doesnt stop me and many other users running ram at 3200mhz, and others with faster ram hitting higher speeds, its just what AMD guarantee the mem controller can handle.

As for the nvme drive, never mind, the speed is still amazing, its like going from a mechanical hard drive to an SSD, my Windows boots up in about 7-8 seconds on an nvme drive, its like Ludicrous Speed......GO!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygE01sOhzz0

go for 3000 or 3200. Ryzen like a LOT of fast ram, if you have change go as high as possible.
