Few days back, my computer displayed bsod having message 'video tdr failure' while playing a game. The game was minecraft which is not a heavy game.I play it without any shaders or texture packs so it couldn't be case that I overclocked it or used it for intense gaming. Then the computer restarted automatically and worked fine for a few hours. But then suddenly while playing, the screen froze with some blue pattern on it and I had to turn off the main power switch to turn it off. After this, the problems started increasing.Whenever I played a game, the screen froze while displaying some pattern on it or the computer automatically turned off and did not turn back on again.I searched online for the problem and found out that my graphic card may be the problem.I tried updating the drivers but they were already up to date. Then i uninstalled the graphic card drivers and tried to manually update them. But when I searched hidden devices in device manager and clicked on properties, it displayed an error code 43 (i don't remember the message with it) and I wasn't able to update it manually. The installer displayed an error saying that it couldn't find compatible hardware. My computer didn't recognize the gpu after that and started displaying blue vertical lines on the monitor. The display resolution also dropped.I opened my cabinet afrer that and reseated the gpu into the slot thinking that i may be connection issue. Then when I tried booting my pc, it kept turning on and off(fans started spinning for 3-4 secs and then turned off) without any display on the screen. Then I tried pulling the gpu and then the pc started(pulling may have disconnected it somehow). Now I am pretty sure that the gpu is the issue. But can it also be the psu?Do i need to state the specs of my pc?

Solution
I would assume a gpu is the problem like you said, but it is possible for psu to be having problems delivering enough power due to something is wrong. You could test it with another power supply and gpu. Try the gpu first since it seems like the obvious suspect.

swap in another power supply

or try a different card with similar power requirements

or try the card in another system

*EDIT*:the pc doesn't turn on when I remove the gpu.It must be because my mobo doesn't have an integrated gpu.It only turns on when I plug in the gpu and then slightly pull it such that it remains connected. The gpu is showing in the device manager but with error code 43(windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems).I am also seeing blue vertical lines on my monitor and the resolution is also dropped from 1920x1080 to 1024x768.Could it be because I pulled it out slightly because the pc diesn't even turn on without pulling it.I also think that it is not because of a faulty psu because I remember now that I tried with a different psu 2-3 weeks ago and it did not turn on

UPDATE:

I managed to turn my pc ON without any problems(1920x1080 res, no blue vertical lines, no error code 43).But the screen freezes with blue dots all over it after 3-4 mins. The pc then crashes and does not turn back on.There is no method to get it to stay turned ON without the pulling thing.I also see the vertical lines even in safe mode. Can someone please post a solution if it is possible to fix it.I don't want to buy a new gpu right now unless it is the only solution.I also don't have access to another gpu with similar specs so I can't test it at home.
