I have a custom build setup on pcpp and was and I am currently using the MSI - GeForce GTX 1050 2GB GAMING X 2G Video Card and was wondering what the difference between this and a GTX 1060, will it be the difference in running a game at ultra vs. high or the difference between running a game or not running a game. It's a a $200 price difference almost so I know it has to be something. Also, does the 2Gs matter at all?

It really depends on what games you are playing. The 1050 should play any game, you just may need to set the graphics settings to medium or low in some cases. The 1060 will play many games at ultra settings in 1080p. If you are happy with your card, I don't see any reason to upgrade. If there are games you like to play and they are lagging or the quality is lower than you'd like, that's when you would upgrade. Its really up to the users preference.

According to some quick benchmarks I looked at, you would be looking at somewhere between 50% to 100% performance increase, depending on the game. The best thing to do is to look up benchmarks for your favorite games online and compare the gtx 1050 to the 1060. Depending on your monitor, unless you spent a lot on a gaming monitor, you won't need anything faster than 60fps.

Actual performance will vary depending on the game in question. That being said, based on Techspot's review (https://www.techspot.com/review/1269-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1050/), it appears that the 6GB GTX 1060 will consistently deliver at least 60% more FPS (in some cases reaching nearly double) when compared to a GTX 1050, & only draws about 10% more power while doing so.
