SSD not detected by my system even though it is compatible.

Hey!

Im having the wierdest of problems with my new SSD. I bought the Crucial MX300 1TB 2.5-inch SSD, and installed it in my computer.
I plugged in a new power cord for the ssd, and connected a new SATA to the motherboard. Computer started up for less then a second, then it shut itself off.
I then unplugged one of my 3 other SSD-disks and replaced it with my new one. The computer then boots into bios, but it detects no disk except my old ones.
This mean it can not be the cables, since it worked on my old SSD. I then unpluged all SSD-disks and booted up with only my new SSD connected. The computer then boots directly to BIOS, but still do not detect the disk. Now i have unplugged my new disk and is using my old ones, with no problems.
This is SSD #2 as i was sure the first one had an error, so the problem can not be caused by the disk itself. I have the latest BIOS version of my motherboard, and i can not seem to find anyone with a simular problem. As far as im aware, the MB should also be compatible with the SSD.

Anyone have any idea what can be causing this?

ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero, Socket-1151
Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Prosessor
Corsair Vengeance LED DDR4 3200MHz 16GB
Crucial MX300 1TB 2.5-inch SSD

1. One of your "3 other SSD-disks" is the boot drive, right?

2. So let's say you have that SSD boot drive connected (and you know that boot drive boots & functions without problems) and you connect the Crucial SSD in the system.

3. So that the ONLY two drives connected are your SSD boot drive and the Crucial. Capiche?

4. Now you boot the system. Can we assume the system boots to the OS (Win 10?) and functions without any problems? Or are there any problems?

5. IF SO, STOP RIGHT HERE AND LET US KNOW, OK?

6. But assuming all is well at this point is your Crucial detected in Device Manager and is it listed in Disk Management?

Respond to the above CLEARLY and we can go on from here, OK?

My system run on Windows 10, and it's a stable system. No problem at all when using my old drives.
When i boot only with my C: drive and the new Crucial SSD i can load windows, but the disk will not show in BIOS or in the device manager. It's like the disk is not there at all.
When i boot with only the new Crucial-disk, its pretty much the same. The disk does not show anywhere in BIOS.

That is correct. I currently use 3 disks in my computer. If i unplug one of the disks and replace that one with my new Crucial, using the very same cables, it still dont work.
 
If your system boots to the current boot drive with the Crucial SSD connected in the system as a secondary drive and the Crucial drive is not detected either in Device Manager nor listed in Disk Management, then it would appear...
1. You have not properly connected the SSD in your system, or,
2. The SSD is defective. Have you tried testing the SSD with the Crucial Storage Executive program...http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/support-storage-executive? It may be possible for that program to detect the drive even if it's not detected in the system BIOS.


I assume you've tried other motherboard SATA ports/connectors for the Crucial. Tried different SATA data cable. Tried different PSU SATA power connector to the SSD.

In that case, I have received two defective SSDs. I have already retuned one because I thought it was defective, but now the same happens with the replacement. I have tried different ports and connectors. I will try that program you mentioned. I can return the SSD withing 45 days and still get my money back, so i think il just do that and buy a samsung-SSD instead. Just to see if that fixes the problem. This issue has like zero logic :p
