Memory error and occasionally fail to POST (Gigabyte Gaming 3 AB350)

I have some issues with my new build (see the parts here )

Basically:

  • - Gigabyte Gaming ab350 F7 BIOS
    - Ryzen 5 1600
    - GTX 1070 Strix O8C
    - G.Skill Flare X 2x8Gb 3200Hz

When I first finished my build I had 2x4GB Corsair Vengence 3000Hz ram and I had boot issues where the PC would sometimes not POST and would give a 3 short beep sequence corresponding to a basic memory 64K address check error. After some research I found that this RAM was not compatible with my motherboard (Gigabyte Gaming 3 AB350) so I swapped them for my current RAM (G.Skill Flare X 2x8GB 3200Hz, F4-3200C14D-16GFX) which is listed on the compatible RAM list.

Since then, my PC has been booting and POSTING but I still get some strange things. First the
status LEDs turn on shortly in turn CPU -> DRAM -> VGA -> BOOT and after ~10s I get the single short beep corresponding to a memory error for AMI BIOS (is it right that the Gaming3 ab350 has an AMI BIOS?). But the PC POSTS and when I'm using it it works fine. I benchamrked the system and the preformances are where they should be.

On rare occasions (1 out of 10 boots maybe) the fans go up to full speed and the motherboard is stuck in a boot loop where CPU and DRAM LEDs alternate. I have to press the reset button on my case. The computer restarts and it succeeds to boot (still with the single short beep).

I am using the XMP profile that boosts up the ram to 3200Hz.
I tried to disable the profile but then I get the wierd 64K address check error and the pc doesn't post until it reverts to "stable" settings.
I tried to increase the voltage to 1.4V for the ram and manually enter the timings that were given on the RAM box (14-14-14-34) . The computer still POSTS but that doesn't remove the memory error beep.
I swappped my ram sticks around and tried to boot with only one but I still get the beep at boot.

I also noticed that when I turn off my computer, the lights on the keyboard and mouse go off but if I press on them they ligth up again even though the PC is off. Is that normal?

In the end, the failed to boot situation happens relatively rarely and the memory error doesn't seems to affect my PC's performances but I would like to solve it.

Do you guys know where it could come from? What are the causes? Is anyone having similar issues with the same hardware? Is my motherboard faulty? And most of all, can this memory error harm my PC on the long run even though the only symptom I have right know is a single beep at boot?

Thank you in advance for your help! Love this website :)

Solution
RYZEN 5 1600 6-Core 3.2 GHz

If your going to run the RAM at those speeds, it makes sense to be OC the CPU.

It would appear that for the gaming 3 ab350 1 single short beep is announcing that the boot went well and everything is ok.

However, I still have the issue that my PC is stuck in boot loops from time to time.
