hey guys,
when i plug in my headphones my sound doesn't work at all while the headphones are plugged in and even when i take them out. to make my sound work again i have to restart my laptop.
this started after i factory resetted my laptop. i have disabled my dedicated graphics since my gpu probably doesn't work. i will leave japan the day after tomorrow and i have to sit in the train for 5 hours and fly for about 20 hours total so i would like to watch movies on the train and plane using my headphones.
i would really appreciate help.
Thanks in advance :D

Solution
sorry I can't be of more help. I had a similar problem on a desktop years ago, the third part realtek audio controller was using backwards logic on when to activate my front audio ports for headphones and when not to.
when you say the sound stops working do you mean the sound from the laptop speakers?

Anyways with any sound problem the first thing to do is right click on the little speaker icon next to your clock (bottom right) and choose open volume mixer. This should display all output speakers the PC knows about. When your headphones are plugged in they should be listed, when they aren't the listing for them should be gone.

Also check in the same place the playback devices. Same thing as before, your headphones should be listed when plugged in.

thank you so much for your reply, yes i mean the sound from the speakers and from my headphones. i just checked what you said and the speakers are listed there and in playback devices but my headphones are not while plugged in. the speaker shows the little green bar going up and down showing it is outputting sound but it isn't. my laptop does regocnize my headphones because when i plug them in a little window pops up to ask me what i use them for;
headphones, microphone etc.

You might also have a 3rd party program controlling sound, besides the little white windows speaker are there any other speaker (or sound related) icons down near the clock? If so check them too.

As for that pop up, you tell it they're headphones right? If its asking I really think there is a 3rd party program that's controlling the sound.
