D5 pump into SysFan?

I'm building my 1st custom loop and have an Alphacool VPP755 V2 D5 pump and have just upgraded to Ryzen on a Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 5 mobo. The board has two 4 pin fan headers marked sys fan 5 & 6 Pump on the far right and bottom right of the board which the manual says are for "System fan/water cooling pump headers" but the D5's 4 pin fan cable won't stretch to them.

I can reach the 4 pin SysFan 1 connector beside the 8 pin PSU connector at the top of the board. Are the dedicated pump headers made for AIO's or do I have to plug my D5 into them. Does it really matter which header I use. Am I right in thinking the fan header is only for PWM control as the D5 is also plugged into separate molex for power. Cheers.

You are correct. As long as you use an PWM pump ( D5 or DDC ) with either a molex or sata power connector you are safe since the pump will not draw any power from the motherboard. So you can pick who ever 4 pin on your motherboard. I myself use case fan 2 since that gives the nicest cable route.
Alittle unsure about the Gigabyte board but on my asus maximus hero XI board I had to set PWN in the bios so I could controll the speed on the pump.

Thanks man. Really appreciate the answer as it was driving me nut wondering how I was going to make a 4 pin pwm fan extension route without it looking ugly as all hell and conflicting with the cable runs I'd already laid down (I'm really OCD on my cabling). Where its going now to the Sysfan is nicely hidden. Cheers.
