It seems really silly.
All OEM manufacturers have to buy these sockets from somewhere.
Why can't we find an index or reference to the little plastic clips that break occasionally?
Obscurity leads to waste for ridiculous reasons.
Spending $500 for new motherboard because of a 10 cent piece of plastic?
That's like buying a new car when the brake pad fails!
Why can't we get references to these?

I was wondering if anyone in the industry knew where to get these clips from?
I wish I could post a picture to convey what I am talking about.
A saddle clip that holds the keyboard ribbon into a laptop motherboard.

In my experience, there is no place that I know of to buy new clips, however, a dab of hot glue will do the trick if you break a clip. The only drawback is that if you ever need to remove the ribbon in the future you will most likely have to replace the board at that point.

Unfortunately, I have tried with duct tape, and the problem is;
The keyboard back light is on, but not making sufficient contact with the socket to actually register any keys being pressed.
The clip had a shelf to it that pinched the cable in place. I've tried a few things like a piece of plastic from a container, etc...
But they just aren't working. What makes me nuts is the cables are super short, and the keyboard is hot welded to the palm rest instead of screwed in. So putting it together and latching the ribbons gives about 1" clearance for the entire keyboard assembly to be installed. More or less the top of the laptop is one large assembly. Not one of Acer's better designs like the R571 which was really a nice unit.
