Hi,

I have problem with motherboard/RAM cards. When I built PC I bought ASUS dual channel motherboard and put 2 kingstone DDR3 RAM cards (4GB each). The cards were installed in blue slots on motherboard - as should be by ASUS instructions. Everything working fine for about 3-4 years. Then one day start getting blue screen and cannot start PC anymore. Found out that problem is in RAM, first idea was that problem is in RAM cards but each of them pass more then 5 hour testing in MEMtest86 and without any error. Later I found if I put 1 card in each channel (1 in blue slot and 1 in black slot) everything is working well. So past 2 years everything working without any problem. Recently I decided to upgrade PC with more RAM memory so I bought 4 RAM cards of 4GB (crucial-ballistix sport) at first everything seems to be ok, but now get same problem - system freeze or blue screen crash. Sometime start PC normal, sometime freeze after 5 min, sometime working few days without problem. All RAM card have been tested separated and in pair of 2 (each in 1 channel slot) working without any problem. But in configuration 2 cards in blue slots or all 4 cards inserted there is problem. BIOS is updated to lastest version.

Motherboard ASUS M4A87TD/USB3

RAM DDR3 4*4GB crucial ballistix sport 1600MHz

processor AMD Phenom II x4 3.00GHz

Any advice?

Thank you

The problem may be that you are actually mix-matching the RAM modules.

You see, when adding more to an existing ram pack requires you to get the same model of RAM modules. So the best bet is to try to buy a dual channel pack of the same exact Kingston with the same frequency and put it in the remaining slots such that you are having the same type of RAM modules throughout.

Either that or the problem may be with your motherboard but that is very unlikely.

What I suggest is that you remove the Crucial Ballistix from the DIMM slots and then boot the system. If it works, then try the above method.

Hope it helps. GOOD LUCK :)
