Im sure where to start. i got this hp pavilioin 11 x2 notebook pc second hand and it would not boot on at all. I am now able to boot it but only with the bootable usb drive i created. I have run all of the diskparts i can think of and since i had no need to retain any data because it was already apparently gone by the time i got it and it had errors gallor. to start with the initial boot screen (once i could power it on at all) gave the "boot device not found, please install OS on your HD Hard Disk <3F0> f2 system diagnostics" error. and yes i did all of the tests all passed. created the bootable usb drive and have been able to get to the recovery manager however i cant seem to restore refresh reinstall fix startup or much of anything else. i get all errors possible every step of the way. down to several seemingly with like the same root issue now. of course theres the error when i try update option under install stating the drive is mbr and windows can only install to gpt. i did reformat the c drive and since i got the missing partition error also i created a partition. at one point i was able to create 2 partitions one unallocated. ran chkdsk c:/f was able to get everything to verify windows scanned the file system and found no problems no further action required have disk space breakdown if necessary then at the end it stated "failed to transfer logged messages to event log with status 50". ran bcd.exe /fixmbr operation successful, /fixboot operation successful, and /rebuildbcd operation successful ran scan and again just as in the bigining any operation i tried to run i got the error "windows resource protection could not perform requested operation". I CAN NOT BOOT WINDOWS AT ALL SO DOWNLOAD SUGGESTIONS ARE POINTLESS AT THIS POINT! i partition is till showing as mbr when i try to install and system repair could not repair. and the pc still will not boot without the usb drive plugged in.

my description is long and i apologize however in order to keep from wasting anyones time with unnecessary questions which i notice follow each issue ive read and with a complete history of what i have tried and how with results hopefully will avoid responses that do not pertain but also maybe someone will be able to tell me what i did wrong how if possible to reverse or fix or informatively tell me to give up my computer tech goals and find a new hobby/trade. at any rate this is the extent of my abilities unless i am either overthinking the situation, or simply trying too hard and missing a simple step (which is what it feels like) or of course there is nothing else possible to do except accept that the drive is trash and give it up.

how did you try to delete it? What were you booting off of? I assume the installer?

you should be able to do a diskpart clean of drive and make it blank
boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose command prompt
type diskpart and press enter
type list disk and press enter
this shows all drives available, DVD/USB and hdd, make note of hdd number
type Select disk X - where X is the number of the hdd you want to wipe, change X to that number and press enter
once the drive you want to install on is chosen, type Clean

Did you try deleting all partitions on the hdd and clicking next? win 8 should recreate the partitions it needs and continue install

GPT and MBR cannot be on drive at same time. So you have to choose between them.

Win 8 can clearly see your PC has a UEFI BIOS and wants to USE GPT as it matches that boot type

If you want to use MBR, you would need to set BIOS up to use legacy boot method. Then re run the installer and it should let you use the partition without deleting them all.

What do you mean system drive?

I assumed the clean we did was on the boot drive, you should now have a blank hdd in PC (or did you have 2 drives?) and running the win 8 installer should reinstall it without any problems now?
