So my dad has a Dell Inspiron 3268 (small form factor) and I was wondering if I purchase an SSD drive to fit alongside the current HDD drive can I connect both plus the inbuilt optical drive through the one SATA power socket?

The PSU in the machine is 180 watt maximum output and I'm guessing the SATA devices are low power? Also not sure which SATA power cable would work in this set up? The power for both currently comes from the one cable, can I use a splitter to go to one more?

Thanks!

ifSSD's do not draw much power. also if it is only 180W it probobly not a good idea to put that many devices on one power cable vs seperate. all stata power connectors are the same
No, you can't use a splitter on a sata power cable. but you may be able to power it with a molex to sata power adapter, if your PSU offers any molex connectors that is.
But sata power cables commonly have 3 connectors on 1 cable, so you can connect 3 sata devices to it. If the cable doesn't have 3, than you can't connect 3.
