I have a Legion Y520, and I want to add another stick of ram, I have one one that is pretty much the same except for one thing, will it be okay? or should I just buy 2 new ones?

I have added photos, The one with the hand is the one I currently have.

You are not right. Many of my friends have 3 GB memory in their PC's, because they are using two absolutely different RAM sticks - 1 GB and 2 GB. I have 8 GB memory installed in my laptop - first stick is Samsung, pre-installed in laptop, second one is Kingston, which I set from my broken laptop. So...

Don't worry - its just differnt p/n(part number) on RAM. You can use it. One stick cant prevent another one's work. Another question - does your CPU support it, but I sure it does.

But if they don't match they will not work together right?
I don't want to buy a stick of ram if it won't benefit my computer but it would be cheaper than buying 2 new ones, and yes the Legion Y520 supports up to 16 GB of ram, it has an i7 7700 HQ
