Hello,

I just finished my gaming build with following:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600.
MSI B350 Tomahawk Arctic
Gigabyte GTX 1080 Windforce OC, 8GB
HyperX Predator Black 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15 Dual Channel Kit, running at 2400MHz.

I tested Battlefield 1 and GTA V. In both games i got over 60fps but the GPU is not used at max.
In GTA V it sits somewhere at 40-60% and in Battlefield 1 arround 70-90%. What should i do ?

Ok, so 8 out of 12 threads are being used, including for the OS and other background programs. Looking at the usage % I'd say the CPU and GPU are about right for each other in BF1. Each is probably limiting the other from time to time, you don't really expect to see 100% on either component when they are well matched. Now in GTA V where the GPU usage is lower, the CPU usage will be higher on those cores being used, because graphically it's not as demanding as BF1.

I understand that you expect to see 100% usage from either the CPU or GPU, but unless there is a complete mismatch in components it usually doesn't happen. If you want more performance from the GPU you'll need more from the CPU, you could try overclocking it to 3.9GHz.

Those temperature are fine, but maybe not such a good idea to overclock on a stock cooler. I thought I had better refresh my memory on how much difference overclocking a Ryzen 5 1600 makes. I found an interesting video, not so much for the results, but rather the commentary about Ryzen 5 in certain games and how it doesn't like DX 12. Might be worth checking out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfNMn7RWgLw

BTW, he's got his to 4GHz, but this is the upper limit and it's not a given that all CPUs can run at that.

Strange is that when i start playing the GPU usage is at 99% and i get 110+ fps but after a while, like 5-10 minutes it starts to drop, the GPU usage and FPS both.
