I'm looking to put this together tonight and most likely order the parts either later tonight or tomorrow morning. Decided to step my productivity game up majorly. I'm working with a budget of $3600 USD. I mainly use freeCAD and Sculptris for several hours a day, varying per job.

I do also do a fair deal of gaming, but mostly strategy games like civ 6 and many older ones. I do also plan to play the new elder scrolls whenever that actually happens. My budget is just for the tower itself, no peripherals. OS will need to be included, but a windows 10 license off kingwin is fine as I have an installation media.

Solution
I'm not familiar with the software listed but i do use AutoCAD all day long and after hours they serve as Flight Sim / gaming boxes. AutoCAD doesn't really show an improvement with 2D / 3D drafting with a workstation class CPU.

But for a box only, It's hard to get near $3600 w/ going SLI ... if ya thinking of getting one of those new AU Optronics 144 Hz 4k screens next month, then fine. I went 'silver" just cause its rare.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($308.87 @ Amazon)

CPU Cooler: Swiftech - H320 X2 55.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($164.95)
It's pretty, it keeps things cool, it's expandable can add more rad space...

It's pretty, it keeps things cool, it's expandable can add more rad space and connect GFX cards

Motherboard: MSI - Z270 XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($282.98 @ Newegg)
Great OC board and simply gorgeous to look at.

Memory: G.Skill - Trident Z 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($186.99 @ Newegg)
Right about the point where faster starts to cost significantly more.

Storage OS Drive: Samsung - 960 EVO 250GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($127.88 @ OutletPC)
Idea being OS and programs here and kept to themselves.

Storage Working Drive: Samsung - 960 EVO 1TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($449.99 @ Amazon)
Games / data files

Storage Archival Storage: Seagate - FireCuda 2TB 2.5" 5400RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($96.95 @ Amazon)
What it says.

Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB LIGHTNING X Video Card ($844.98 @ Newegg)

I went this way solely because ya budget was so high ... you could get the MSI 1080 Ti Seahawk when it drops for about the same price and connect that to the water cooling system

Case: Phanteks - Enthoo Evolv ATX Glass ATX Mid Tower Case ($179.99 @ Amazon)
Reviewers have said it's the bast case on the market and that it belongs in an art museum

Power Supply: SeaSonic - PRIME Titanium 650W 80+ Titanium Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($148.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Performance is mythincal and ya budget is high so why not

Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit ($137.89 @ OutletPC)

Total: $2930.46
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Now if went SLI, I'd use a more normal GFX card like the Gaming X ... 2 of those would add +$692 anfd the PSU to handle it would add +38 for a total of +730 = $3660.
