Hi, I have a ASUS Rog Strix Z270E and I'm having some trouble connecting the case front panel connectors to it.

The manual labels the parts like so: http://imgur.com/a/ScmXI

1. There are 2 power led places, which one do I connect the cable to?
2. Power switch is labeled as "PWRBTN#" and "GND" where does the + part connect to?
3. Reset is labeled as "Ground" and "RSTCON# where does the + part connect to?

Thanks.

Solution

At the lower right corner of your motherboard you will see this group of pins (it's a 20-pin group but only with 17 actual pins):

Which looks like this in a diagram:
[o][o][o][o][x][o][o][o][o][o]...

At the lower right corner of your motherboard you will see this group of pins (it's a 20-pin group but only with 17 actual pins):

Which looks like this in a diagram:
[o][o][o][o][x][o][o][o][o][o]
[o][o][o][o][o][o][x][o][x][o]

* where: o = pins; x = no pin

The first 4 pins at the top row and the first 4 pins at the bottom row is where you will connect those front panel cables:

[o][o][o][o][x][o][o][o][o][o]
[o][o][o][o][o][o][x][o][x][o]

Connect the:

PWR LED, (+) at the left, (-) at the right --> [o][o] | [o][o] <-- PWR SW, (+) or (-) orientation does not matter
HDD LED, (+) at the left, (-) at the right --> [o][o] | [o][o] <-- RESET SW, (+) or (-) orientation does not matter

So, just to answer your 3 questions directly:
1. There are 2 power led places, which one do I connect the cable to? The first two upper left pins
2. Power switch is labeled as "PWRBTN#" and "GND" where does the + part connect to? Doesn't matter as it is only a switch
3. Reset is labeled as "Ground" and "RSTCON# where does the + part connect to? Doesn't matter as it is only a switch

Thanks very much. I have the Z370-E Motherboard and after I built my PC, I was surprised that the computer didn't turn on. I checked all the connections to the motherboard again and followed the instructions given above and finally everything works as it's suppose to. RBG fans and power LEDs came on. This really helped me out big time, saved a frustrating period of trial and error.

Thanks Again
Dave
