i have a pc with my main drive a samsung ssd. i image back it up daily with two programs that put the backups on another drive which is sata.
what im concerned about is: will all that daily disk activity significantly shorten the life of my ssd?
if so ill only back up weekly with only one program.
(im using acronis and macrium)
thanks

Not likely. Reading data from an SSD isn't so taxing to it. It's mostly the writes that tend to wear out the NAND memory. Especially given that to edit a single bit to a sector requires re-writing an entire page of memory (SSDs can only write 1's, they can't write 0's without erasing an entire page and re-writing it anew).

That will not affect the lifespan of that drive.

My system is SSD only...5 drives. 4 of them are backed up every night, Macrium Reflect, off to my NAS box.
This backup is only a read function. Does not materially affect the drive lifespan.
