Hi,

I have a Linksys EA3500 (most recent firmware) and I'm connecting 1 laptop and 1 PC to it (or trying).

When only 1 device is plugged the network works so does the internet.

When I connect both LAN wires the network crashes on both pcs, the lights for each lan wires go black but the internet ones still work. They start blinking again 30 seconds later but the network never returns.

If I disconnect one of the devices (either, I tried alternating both) then it connect to the network and the internet returns.

What is going on?

Thanks

Have you tried shutting down the system... completely. Modem / Router / All PCs / All lappies / printers and anything else 'on the network' (i.e. MCell PS4, XBox whatever). Go make a sammie and eat lunch ... Then, with all cables connected, start the modem, wait a minute, start the router, wait a minute, start the PC with your Router app on it. Look at the Router network mapping noting the assignment of IP addresses . I keep a spreadsheet with Macine N, / Name. MAC address, I{P address and other data .. you can fill this out as each machine boots..

Then start the lappie and see what happens ... BTW, is the wired or wireless connection ? Continue starting all devices allowing each one to show up on the routers map page listing IP addresses. Make sure to refresh ya browser window after each item is started.

You might have for example:

Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0

and then columns for

Item No. = 1
Device Name = MicroCell
IP Address = 192.168.1.2
Mac Address = 17:34:C6:48:G2:BA
Connection Type = Wired

Item No. = 2
Device Name = Main PC
IP Address = 192.168.1.3
Mac Address = 71:42:7H:99:Q2:AB
Connection Type = Wired

Network printers should have high numbers
Item No. = 9
Device Name = Large Format Plotter
IP Address = 192.168.1.10
Mac Address = 42:71:H8:33:Z2:VF
Connection Type = Wired

Then com the wireless items like ya lappie

Item No. = NA
Device Name = Work laptop
IP Address = 192.168.1.x
Mac Address = 91:48:7K:25:L3:BH
Connection Type = Wireless

I prefer to have the wired devices assigned a specific IP address, on the MFP and Plotter, this was essential, as well as for the MicroCell. The wireless devices I let DNS handle.

I have used this technique on several networks to quickly identify where issues lie.

Same results. I have ipv6 deactivated on both PC.

I tried shutting everything down, plugin all network wires then powering up the router only. When the power's light remained constant I powered up both pcs. the green and orange lights on both wire were light. Then i plug in the internet rj45 then both PCs get internet within 30 sec. 20 seconds later the network crashes on both PC and the power light of the router starts blighting endlessly.

It only stops when I unplug 1 of the LAN wire and wait 30 sec.

Seems I can only connect 1 device at a time or else the network goes a-wire.
