I am having an issue with my i7-7700K Kaby Lake 4.2 GHz overheating on 2 of the 4 cores. What happens is 2 cores run stable at overclock between 45 and 65c depending on load. The other 2 will jump between 45c up to 90c. They stay at 90c for about 15 seconds then drop then go back up. They never stabilize no matter what I try. I have ran the fans/pump up to 100% and verified all software is up to date. I am liquid cooling with the corsair H100i. I should mention I have also cleaned and reapply thermopaste. The motherboard that I am using is an MSI Z-270. Any ideas?

What they meant is to open/delid your proc metal case...or whatever you call it... and replace the TIM (Thermal Interface Material) between the proc and the metal house.

Intel has been using poor quality TIM for its new Kaby Lake chips.

Sadly it looks like you are one of the unlucky ones that have gotten a bad cpu... Like Dragos Manea sayd only way to fix this it to delid and re-apply thermal paste or swap to liquid metal.
Had to do the same myself since I had the same problem as you. And now my temps never go over 58-59 on all cores @ 5GHz

Know I undersatand first thought something else guess I lost at the silicon lottery. I will agree Intel has really disappointed me. I heard their response to the heat issue is just dont overclock. Any recommendations for a good gaming chip even if it requires a new motherboard
