So I'm trying to set up wlan on a seperate router (because the one built in to my modem is terrible).
The seperate router is a Engenius ecb300 hybrid that I have set to operate as an access point router. It is hooked up to the modem via cable (no it's not in the wan port). I also disabled the wlan on the modem.
I changed the AP's IP to be on the same subnet as the devices that are wired to the modem directly, and to be outside of the DCHP range that the modem uses.
After setting all of that up, both networks (wired stuff attached to the modem & wireless devices on the wifi of the secondary router) work fine. However, neither can reach devices on the other network (no response to pinging).
I have looked for settings that possibly isolate the two networks, but I can't seem to find any and think I just don't understand how this works well enough.
So my question is: how can I use the second router, while still enabling all devices to communicate with each other.
Help would be greatly appreciated.
