Hi everyone, my DVD drive is not showing up on my laptop. It also isn't showing up in control panel or in the bios.

So far i have uninstalled the dvd drivers and reinstalled them. I have also changed all the registry settings as laid down in previous threads. Finally i have removed the drive and using a SATA to usb tested the drive - the drive works perfectly.

Since this is a slim line sata dvd drive, there is no jumper cable, it just fits into the slot on the motherboard. So is this sounding like a motherboard issue?

Solution
Most likely, Yes a MB issue as You have verified the drive works. Most likely cause is a poor connection between drive connector and connector On MB. Since it stopped showing up in bios you can rule out driver issue as drivers are not in-play until OS loads.
