Hey tech people!

So for the past 7 months i've had a pc that shuts down randomly when i'm playing any harder to run games (Ark survival evolved, PUBG).
Its a complete shutdown, no restart. As if i flip the switch.
The issues started back in december when i switched my Motherboard/MEM/CPU.
During a attempt to try and fix this with people on this forum back then we "found" the issue to be the PSU, which i replaced and upgraded.
Unfortunately this didnt fix the issue, the pc is still crashing.

I have updated all drivers and the bios.
The replaced parts are sent back to the seller to test for any issues, but none were found. These were the Motherboard/mem/cpu.
The current psu is 850w Gold so shouldnt have any issues suplying enough power.

If you need anything more to help out, let me know!
at this point i really don't know what to do anymore..

My specs are :

Motherboard: Asus viii ranger
Memory: Corsair vengeance 3200 2x 8gb
CPU: Intel i7 6700k
GPU: Evga gtx 970
PSU:corsair Rm850x
CPU cooler: cooler master hyper 212 evo

HDD: 2x Samsung hd204ui
SSD: 1x Crucial Bx200 480gb (current start up disk)

Case: NZXT noctis 450

When i crash it shows an error that the pc suddenly shut down 30 minutes earlier, i've added two screenshots to show what i mean.
https://gyazo.com/ac0c457bc3aa59bf94c580c65ee1816e The error at the time of crash
https://gyazo.com/42207bb51e1e2678f5ee838276f0669e The time the "error" should have occurred

Have you checked the temps of the cpu or graphics card while gaming or stress testing?
Did you update your bios, there are new updates...? But do remember to update bios in an orderly fashion like if there are bios version 1,2,3 available and your bios version is 1 , then download 2 , flash it and then download 3 and flash it. And always remember to flash using bios and not not windows...

The temps are very good... But do try running prime95 for 10 mins and see if it crashes or not...

Even if your PSU has enough power does not mean it is not faulty...

Post the full error log please :)

First do monitor your temps since you have not listed what you are using as a cooler for the cpu. Make sure it does not overheat. ( Even if I dont think this is the problem but has to be sure )

What you can try and do is to take out everything you dont need in the computer.
Just leave 1 stick of ram, Unplugg the 2 HDD`s, remove the GPU and run on the cpu`s graphics.
Fans you should not need to pull out now.
Now boot up with just the parts you MUST have and run games or what ever that caused your system to turn off in the first place.
If it now turns out to be stable, add in 1 part like the 2nd RAM module and try and make the system turn off again, keep doing this with 1 part at the time until the system turns off by itself and let us know what parts has been put back in and what the last part was when the system turned off.

Ok, there you go, the issue is overheating... Get a custom cooler and your issue will be solved... :) In the previous post, i thought the temps were during load, but now i know it was in idle mode... Get a AIO cooler for your cpu... corsair h100 would be a good choice or good custom air coolers would do...

Check to see if the cooler is properly seated on the processor, dont force it though... get yourself new thermal paste like the cooler master mastergel maker nano or the MX4. I personally prefer and recommend using the cooler master mastergel maker nano. The fans i recommend are noctua NF-F12 and corsair ml120 fans

The idle temps may be little high but look at it the under heavy load temps, it shouldn't cross max safe temps...
Idle temps depend a lot on ambient temperature...

Best way is to take it out, clean the thermal paste on the cpu and heatsink using 90% isopropyl alcohol and toilet paper or coffee filters. Apply new thermalpaste; not too much, just sufficient amount. Reinstall the cpu cooler again and Check if it fixes things...

Good thing sending the part back they put a tube of cooling paste with every single part (i now have 5 small tubes) So i can try it many times over!
Thanks for the help everyone, since its 00:26 for me i'll be replacing the paste tomorrow as soon as i can. After that i'll do the prime95 test again to see if it worked and post the results.

Many thanks!

I wouldn't advice you use that thermal paste, you should consider buying some new thermal paste likes the ones mentioned by me. I have seen stores use pretty cheap thermal pastes unless they are providing branded ones. The thermal pastes doesn't cost that much, and one tube will last you years... Thermal pastes really matters and i have seen temps fall down 20 C by using good thermal pastes. Anyways, its your choice.
Also do try to check whether the cpu cooler fans are working properly on heavy load or not. For the fans i would advice you the noctua nf-f12 or the corsair ML120

I've re-applied paste as i said i would, the paste is the stock coolermaster paste that came with the hyper 212 evo. (according to google its not a bad paste).
Unfortunately prime95 test didnt give any new results, it instantly hits 90 and goes up to 99. After stopping the cpu nearly instantly cools down to 50.

However, googling around i found that a lot of people have these temps using the newest version of prime95 on the kind of cpu that i have and have been recommended using version 26.6 instead of 28.
After installing that version and running the test my cpu doesnt get hotter than 80 degrees.

Yeah, I knew that but still its pretty hot using the previous version of prime95. The version after 26.6 uses AVX2 stress testing which gives unnatural temps, but 99 C and above is just out of the question on i7-6700k... and 80C is also very high considering you have a good cpu cooler...
To me, the problem is overheating... do try to check whether the fans are working properly or not and if the fans are installed properly on the cpu cooler in the right direction...
I would advice you to avoid running stressful games like battlefield 1 and other cpu extensive applications on such setup as it may literally fry up the processor and affect the motherboard...
Hope other members on the forum advice you on the situation and you find a fix soon...

a friend of mine just mentioned that the hyper 212 evo is not good for the 6700K, this is what he said.

the evo 212 is good for i3's and i5's (Non k) since it is lower then 90 WATT TDP
since coolers are made for x TDP max to desapate heat
Even tho the evo 212 is rated for upto 180 Watt this cooler version is very old and coolers have been developed further which means even tho it only does under 180 watt it will be more effiecent in cooling your CPU.

i'll be honest and say that i don't really follow him here. but any thoughts on it?

i've checked and checked again and the fans are all working properly.
i have also moved one front fan to the top in the case right above the cpu in the hopes it'd work (its blowing outward)

Ok, so... Hmmm.... I am literally thinking about the issue since yesterday...
ok, do you have any other intel stock coolers in your house, any will do since the 2nd generation of intel cpu's, do reply because its late night here and i want to solve your issue tonight itself...
