I've run into an issue where I cannot stand the slow speeds of the wifi network when sharing files/viewing files on the server.
I want to connect to the server via ethernet to be able to share/view files at fast speeds while using wifi as my internet source (router/modem is far from the server)
I've changed my ip address for the Local area connection to something different so the two IP addresses do not interfere but I'm still unable to connect. It says "no network access"
What am I doing wrong?

Did you set a static IP address and subnet mask on the wired adapter for both the PC and server (leaving gateway address blank)?

I'd recommend configuring this with wireless disabled to be sure that it is working properly, then enable wifi afterwards.

Thanks for your reply, I changed the IP address but not the subnet mask. It prefilled with: 255.255.255.0
Is this my problem?

That is the correct subnet mask, just make sure it is the same on both the PC and server.

Once configured, you should be able to ping in each direction.
