Hello guys, I assembled my PC in 2010 and since than I have same BIOS version that is F4 dated 02/11/2010. I just want to ask if it is safe to update my BIOS as i found that my motherboard GA-EX58-UD5 (rev. 1.0) has other BIOS version till F12 at Here

What is the process and do i have to Flash each version from F4 to F12 or just the latest one i.e F12. Recently I got issue with my realtek sound driver as it is neither working nor showing up anywhere in my devices. Below is the thread for that with system images.

Leave it.

Don't update the BIOS unless you have to (eg to support a new CPU, etc).

When you do update it, you only need the latest one as they are all cumulative (ie each update includes all the fixes & features from all the the previous versions).

Your sound problem won't be fixed by updating the BIOS anyway.

What's happened is that the AMD graphics card contains an audio processor too. When you allow the AMD audio drivers to install, it becomes the primary audio device instead of the on-board Realtek one.

Nothing is faulty or broken, you just need to uninstall the driver package for the AMD graphics card, then re-install the package but without the audio drivers (Custom Install).

Realtek sound adapter will then re-appear & your on-board sound should work.

What's happened is that the AMD graphics card contains an audio processor too. When you allow the AMD audio drivers to install, it becomes the primary audio device in place of the Realtek one.

Hi Phillip Corcoran, I tried uninstalling all realtek driver and AMD driver and after restart just install realtek HD sound drive but still it did not work. Also I found that in Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features the installed size of reltek driver is 600 mb where as in C:\Program Files (x86)\Realtek it shows only 3-4 mb. What can be the cause of this? And is it possible that driver is not installing all together as if there is no device connected?
