Hello, my wife and I have just bought our first house, its a new build so i have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to ask the electricians to fit double ethernet ports in each room and to have Cat6 cables lead from each of them behind the walls to one room which when finished will be my computer room. I plan to terminate the Cat6 cables in a 24 port patch panel which ill connect to a 24 port switch which will then connect to the internet via my router.

The house isnt huge however the walls are quite dense so the wifi signal from my router will need some help in order to cover all corners of the house.

I would like to use one or two of the ethernet ports around the house in a way that will extend the wifi signal being broadcast from my router, however i dont want different wireless networks. i essentially want to be able to just come home and have for example, my mobile connect to the home wifi network and to remain on it throughout the house.

Is this even possible and if so how do i go about it?
Also money is a little tight what with buying a new house and all (plus the missus hit the roof when she saw how much id spent on patch panels, switches and a network cabinet!!!)

Thanks in advance guys

Seamless WIFI is still difficult in home environments. The best mesh WIFI systems give a promise of this. The light commercial systems like the Ubiquiti UniFI system have features to improve this. Expensive commercial systems have controllers which steer connectivity. Home systems don't.

In addition to the ethernet cables in the rooms (you really only needed one), you should think of places that IP cameras would be useful, front door, patio, garage, etc. If you have a pool area, you may also want an outdoor WIFI source.
