Ok, so I have a budget of about £700 ($850-900 ish)

My current specs are:

Motherboard: Asus P8H77V-LE
CPU: i5 2500k @3.4Ghz
GPU: r9 380 nitro 4GB
RAM: 16GB crucial Ballistix tactical @ about 1400Mhz
PSU: no-name brand 550w psu

I'm thinking of upgrading everything except the GPU (unless you can fit a gpu into the budget too)

also, i don't need a SSD/HDD as i already have those from my current PC
and no OS needed etiher as i already own windows 10 home
I would prefer to keep the case that's in the list

here's my current list:

Solution
a few adjustments:

PSU: EVGA G3 has the same quality, but lower price

Ryzen likes faster RAM like 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance
for only 10pounds a no brainer

lose the thermal paste

Ryzen 1600X is an overclocked variant of the 1600. you can usually overclock the 1600 to 1600X levels.
the 1600X comes without a stock cooler, so you'd have to buy one.
I'd just go with a Ryzen 1600, use the stock cooler and overclock if I desire it
if you're firm convinced of the 1600X, you'll need a CPU cooler like the Noctua U12S which is a bit overkill tbh. a Deepcool Gammax would get the job done as well

personally I don't like the looks of the case and would go with a Fractal Design Focus G, but...
