I basically just discovered my mic wasn't working. This isn't the first time I had this problem with this headset so i just went to replace it. Turns out that didn't fix it. I have tried changing the mic on the sound setting and put the booster up all the way. I have no clue what to do. The motherboard is only a few months old and hasn't been damaged by anything or had anything wrong with it. It worked fine yesterday. I don't know if I changed anything in the settings but i'm losing my mind. Please please help me.

ok heads up, did a test on skype and heard the playback message i left.

Solution
then i am as stumped as you :-(
i really dont want to say its a headset issue as you been thoguh 2 of them with same issue ..... perhaps x12 is not supported? and you have obviously tried other usb sockets on the rear of the pc? maybe the front panel cables to the mobo are loose.

recreate post to see if anyone else can pick this up and solve?

turtle beach headsets do not need the 3.5mm jack plugged in to use (when using the box controler set). only plug in the usb. That could be causing a conflict/issue.

unplug headset, restart pc, plug in the usb only.

control panel
sound
recording device
set default device turtlebeach. configure :)

there is a problem with your turtlebeach usb driver? if it cannot recognise the headset when plugged in, this could be the issue.
control panel
sound
playback devices
turtlebeach appear there?
you may need to update driver?
