So i want to build what would've been a mid to high end pc back in the mid 2000's. Im thinking around 2008.

Problem is, i only got into pc's in 2015 so im not too familiar with the parts i will be needing. What was a good processor and GPU in 2008?

I know this seems pointless but i really want to give it a try. Please leave any tips/suggestions below

10 year old parts haven't been made in 10 years, and tossed to the trash. So trying to find them is hard, expensive, and not worth the headaches really. Further you can't just 'find' all the parts because your talking alot of different tech. While you can try and scrounge up some 'best of 2008' tech articles to give you a idea, the problem is you can't 'find' the stuff WORKING because it has been worn out (used like 10 year old tires) and trash.

I know personally you would be still talking IDE, DDR2, and the first Gen iCores, more likely Pentium V's or so.

Well it seems like a kind of waste of money not to offend your idea but it would be so out dated now. As Tom said the parts stopped production YEARS back and they don't make them anymore. Whatever parts are still around on Ebay are going to be outrageously expensive and very difficult to find. Most of the stuff even if it does still work will be on the edge of working since technology back then was not the best... Anyways Tom answered it first so don't select me as an answer as I would feel like I stole his stuff but its basically the same answer for it. Cheers

Those are good points, i agree to be honest. The parts would be hard to find but after searching on Ebay they are much harder to find then i was expecting. Thats what happens when you brainstorm at 2am.

Just pretend this post doesnt exist. ;)
