Freesync or not?

Hi, I need advice. I may be putting together a budget gaming pc in the next couple of weeks and have most of the parts chosen. However, I have just realised that the GPU I had chosen, a MSI GTX 1050 Ti 4G OC, does not support freesync, which my chosen monitor does, a ViewSonic VX2757. So my dilemma is do I go for a freesync capable GPU, probably an Asus RX 560 4GB, or stick with the 1050 ti and forget about freesync? Is freesync worth it? Is a RX 560 with freesync as good as a 1050 without…. It was going so well until I noticed the lack of freesync! Thanks in advance for any advice.

You're welcome. Just a couple of thoughts to add:

The RX560 (with or without FreeSync) performs better in selected DX12/Vulkan games (such as tests made playing Doom or Sniper Elite 4, etc. http://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/2908-sapphire-rx-560-pulse-oc-review-vs-gtx-1050/page-4), but would not match the GTX 1050 Ti's performance in DX11 in all other games. Thus, I would only consider the RX560 (when paired with a FreeSync monitor) if it is being offered at a much lower price or one has a very limited/tight budget (i.e., can't afford the GTX 1050 Ti).

In your case, as you already have (?) the GTX 1050 Ti, it would not be wise to downgrade FPS performance you already can get with such GPU just to get FreeSync on slow-paced...

Thanx Raison. Can't stretch to a 570 etc, budget getting tight. Just to pick your mind a bit, what difference would I notice between the two, rx560 with freesync and the 1050 ti without at 1080? mostly playing strategy games not shooters, got ps4 for them.

Such types of games doesn't really benefit a whole lot in higher frame rates compared to fast-paced shooters. Thus, I would recommend sticking with the current 1050 Ti.
