Ethernet Cable Not Long Enough

So I moved over to a new home and found I needed about 15m long ethernet cable to have wired connection in my room. But the local stores sell only 10m and 5m cables. Is there any way for me to combine these two ethernet cables together without cutting into them, or do I have to go out and find a 15m cable?

It will not degrade the performance it just reduces the total length you are allowed. You can run 100 meters of ethernet cable but that assumes a single run of cable. Every time you put some kind of splice in it you increase the resistance and reduce the distance but it not going to be reduced by very much. Then again I have not seen anyone test what happens is you put in 100 splices. I suspect you could use a coupler and 2 50 meter cables and it would still be fine.

Pretty much ethernet will run at 1gbit/sec or it will fail.

Cost wise the couplers are not generally your best choice. They cost almost as much as some cables.

What? Couplers cost pennies! The one I linked to costs £1.08p which is quite a bit less than a 15M cable.

15M cable £7.95 :- https://www.gizzmoheaven.com/Cables/Networking-Cables/Cat6-Ethernet/Cat6-Ethernet-Cable-High-Speed-Gigabit-RJ45-Network-Lead-Grey-15.0-Metres?gclid=Cj0KCQjwh_bLBRDeARIsAH4ZYEM3nbr3iveHgiQn9R5rVpPvyN_MzaROtpt0FYldb_AiZDNh0EGb204aAsKkEALw_wcB How is that less than £1.08p ?

They do not cost pennies but that was not my point but maybe I need to be more clear to not upset some people. Maybe I should have just said but the correct length cable to start with.

I'm not going to argue with someone who has no concept of the cost of things but perhaps you should read the OP because if you did then you would realise that they are asking for a cheap way to join two cables together because they cannot get one of the required length.
