Sometimes they are there for power filtering and it's possibly it would work, but also greatly possibly it won't. lol. Can't really recommend trying as it could short out when the bare pads touch the thermal paste or heat sink. Unless you're good at micro soldering and reattach them.
And were they there before or not. Sometimes the pads are there but not used, so I'm trying to figure out did you rip them off with the heatsink, or knock them off with a qtip cleaning the paste or are they just unused pads?
Do you think that if they were there before, the cpu will function properly without them... I measured with multimeter and they are connected parallel.

The lesson here is don't mess with laptops, if you had a thermal issue then changing the thermal paste is unlikely to fix it, it might gain you a degree or 2 but that's all.
