Poseidon GTX 1080ti PWM external fan headers...

I have a Swiftech 8 PWM fan splitter and an EK PWM D5 pump. Both of them are powered directly by the power supply. Which means there are only two wires that connect to the fan header. I have tried connecting both to the Poseidon header and when I try calibrate them it doesn't recognize either. It does read the rpm but it runs them at max. I can't control them.

I was really hoping I could use the Poseidon to control my radiator fans. My mobo only has a single PWM header which is connected to the D5 pump. The remaining 4 headers are not PWM.

Am I missing something or will the Poseidon external fan headers not work for me?

  1. I spent a few more hours testing it. I tried connecting a PWM fan directly to the Poseidon and it still wasn't detected. I also connected a 3 pin fan and that also wasn't detected. I was able to control the speed of both manually but the RPMs aren't reporting.

I don't know what is going on.

  2. I give up. I wasted way too much time trying to figure out why it isn't working. Asus states the header is PWM but maybe it really isn't. I sent them an email. Maybe they will have an answer for me.

  3. I ended up getting a NZXT Grid V2 fan controller. I gave up on using the Poseidon's external headers.
