I have the technic launcher running 16gb of ram to minecraft. I also set the heap in java settings to
-Xms16384m -Xmx16384m I just added the heap thing last night after months of trying to fix things in other ways "optifine, foam fix, better fps (mods), but nothing helps. Its unplayable at 12 fps. I feel I might have a hardware problem but nothing else I play or do shows any problem.

Any and all help would be great thanks...

Why would you suspect a hardware problem if it's only this game, and especially a game that's been modified.

This is probably a question for the Minecraft forums, though a good first step might be to go back to a Vanilla, clean install. Once you're there make any changes one at a time.

Even unmodded I don't get a solid 60 fps, as far as why I think it maybe hardware: I know this rig should be getting higher fps, when my server pc, with lower specks, runs the same pack, and the server at the same time and keep 60 fps. I saw a post about it could be do to java limitations but then the problem would be across the board on both computers as they both are running the same java with the same heap sizes also. An I didnt bring this to the minecraft forums because I bring all my tech questions here, I trust Toms have for years.

Again though, you said everything else appears to run fine. I can't grasp how that could possibly be a hardware issue. There are lots of reports of Minecraft performance issues though due to software problems.

The program may be unmodded now but that doesn't mean there isn't some underlying issue that requires you to remove and reinstall the game and other software.

I can't help any further though as I have no familiarity with Minecraft's issues.

let me try
i can't remember what causes it (something to do with 32 bit and 64). go into settings and check how much ram you are able to allocate. if its 1gb of ram you need to update your java to a 64 bit version.
i'll get back to you with a link
