Your GPU is really holding you back as others have said.

Save up and get a newer MId Range card like a GTX 1060, RX 480 or RX 580.

Then you will be able to play at much higher settings at 1080p.

I still have my older I7 870 machine with an RX 480 and it does play newer games at good framerates at 1080p.

Could be fine, but I would expect some inconsistent fps across the board. At 720p it should be okay. Just know that you'll have to play pretty much every modern game at low to achieve decent fps.

Good luck, and save up! You're in need of an upgrade.

Like k1114 mentioned there is a lot of wrong stuff going on on here. Your i7 870 is okay for gaming it has 4 cores and 8 threads and a turbo Boost of 3.60GHz now the problem here is your GPU that R7 240 is not made for gaming. For gaming you need to buy a newer graphics card your i7 will be able to handle a GTX 1060
